Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer and today we're taking a look at installing the Pollak in-bed seven-pole wiring on a 2020 Chevy Silverado 3500. Now this is gonna be a really great addition if you have a fifth wheel or gooseneck. And when you plug in your trailer, instead of having to drape it over your tailgate, you'll have this wiring right in your bed, making it super easy, and it keeps all your cords inside of the bed as you're going down the road. Now this obviously you have to have a factory seven way to be able to tie into that. It's really just a jumper harness, but it makes it super convenient. It's gonna give you all the same functions as you would your normal seven poles. more

Curt Trailer Connector Adapter Installation - 2022 Hyundai Tucson- Video
Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer and today we're taking a look and installing the Curt 4 to 7 and 4-pole adapter on a 2022 Hyundai Tucson. Now having 4-pole trailer wiring on your vehicle is great because you get your turn signals, your brake lights, and running lights on the trailer, but sometimes you are towing a trailer that has a 7-pole and then you're kind of stuck without that lighting function unless you have an adapter and there's a bunch of different styles available. But this is a really nice way to ensure that you're not gonna have to worry about carrying an adapter with you because we are able to have both. So we have our 7-way here with a spring-loaded cap that's gonna keep it nice and closed when we're not using it, so it's gonna stay nice and clean. And the same goes for the 4-pole here that mounts up to the bracket. It's got a nice little cap here, so if you're hooking up to your 4-pole, no problem, and your 7-way it's gonna be right there. more

Now, this is a great option to upgrade from your previous seven-pole not only because you can get a nice plug that goes up 180 degrees, which this one being in an angle makes a lot easier to get our plug in. Whereas our previous one, you can see it doesn't quite open up as much so you're kind of at a downward angle. It's hard to see if it's actually attached. And this one also has two handles here to make it easy. more

Hopkins Endurance Multi-Tow Trailer Connector Installation - 2017 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 3500- Video
Hola neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer, and today, we're taking a look and installing the Hopkins 7-way as well 5-flat and 4-flat trailer wiring connector on a 2017 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 3500. Now, this is a great option to upgrade from your previous 7-pole, not only because you can get a nice plug that goes up 180 degrees, which this one, being in an angle, makes it a lot easier to get our plug in, whereas our previous one, you can see it doesn't quite open up as much, so you're kinda at a downward angle, it's hard to see if it's actually attached. What's nice about this kit is it's going to be a pretty simple installation, because it comes with a bracket to mount up. Ours already had that, so we don't have to use it, but it also comes with the mounting hardware here, and it also comes with terminal grease, so you can get that dielectric protection on your plug. more

There is one thing you're gonna need that you're not gonna have, and that's gonna be the bracket to attach the trailer connector bracket to the actual cross tube or wherever you decide to mount it. Hey everybody, how's it going Today, we're going to be going over and showing you how to install the Hopkins endurance trailer connector adapter here on a 2019 Subaru Outback. So this particular adapter here, it's going to be designed for trailers with brakes. So a lot of vehicles come from the factory with a four way trailer connector, or you may have added an aftermarket four way trailer connector, which is gonna be great for all those small and medium duty trailers. However, when you get into the larger trailers, they're going to have brakes. A lot of actually owner's manuals require the trailer to have breaks over a certain amount. So when you're looking to tell a little bit more, you're gonna have to install a seven way trailer connector, because that's going to be required for those trailers with brakes. more

Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer, and today we're taking a look at the Hopkins, four to seven and four pole adapter, on a 2018 Chevy Express van. Now, this is gonna allow you to take your four pole adapter, and actually hook up to a seven way trailer. You still maintain your four-pole, so this really opens up the options for anyone that tows two different styles of trailer, or having the ability to hook up to a bunch of different trailers. Now, this is also nice if you eventually wanna add a brake controller, as you can do that. Your four-pole is going to give you your running lights, your turn signals, and your brake lights. Now, you're also gonna get that with your seven pole but you have the availability to eventually add the wiring to run a brake controller, you can also put a reverse lockout if you're towing a boat, or you can have a 12 Volt power supply, and that's gonna be useful on some of your trailers with your jacks or whatever may be powered. more

Having this adapter is a great way to go from a normal, just 4-pole to a 7-way. And that's gonna give you not only 12-volt power, but also reverse lights as well, which is really nice when you have a good trailer. You can also have the ability to run trailer brakes, and that also is gonna be peace of mind when towing a heavier trailer that has brakes installed. Hopkins Trailer Wiring Adapter Installation - 2020 Toyota Corolla- Video
Hey everyone, Shane here with etrailer.com. Today I have a 2020 Toyota Corolla, and I'm gonna walk you through how to install the Hopkins 4-Pole to 5-Pole adaptor plug. What this is designed to do, is if you have a 4-pole plug on your vehicle, but your trailer has a 5-pole, this allows you to hook into your 4-pole plug on your vehicle, to give you that 5-pole end, if your trailer has a reverse light circuit. The blue wire coming off is gonna have a bullet connector on it, it's gonna come with the extension to connect to our reverse light circuit in the vehicle. This way your trailer, having that reverse light circuit, will allow anybody behind you, if you're backing up, to see what you're doing. What makes this nice is if we're not pulling a trailer with a 5-pole, we can take this adapter, we can throw it in our glove box, or with our other wiring. more

RoadMaster 6-Wire Trailer Connector Installation - 2021 Ford Ranger- Video
Hey everybody, Ryan here at trailer. Today on our 2021 Ford Ranger we're gonna be checking out and showing you how to install the RoadMaster six way round connector plug. So just to kind of give you guys an idea on what your connector plug will look like when you're not using it, whenever you're just kind of cruising around town, you can see it's gonna do a pretty good job of blending in. Thankfully the Ranger has a lot of different spots where we can mount this up and it's kind of dark in this area. So with the plug being black in color it does do a great job just kind of, blending in to the front of your Ranger so it don't stick out too bad. With that said, when you're not using it it does have a spring loaded cap and it's pretty tight actually. more

Today on our 2020 Lincoln Corsair, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Tecontra upgraded vehicle wiring harness with a four way flat trailer connector. So the way this kit is going to work is it's going to provide you with the necessary lighting functions to eliminate all of the lights on your trailer. So whenever you're ready to use it, you can open up your hatch, lift up your floor covering, and it's going to be located right here inside. Now you can always run it outside and mount it up next to your hitch if that's what you want to do, but for the most part, I think this is a safe bet. So you have your four-way flat, and you're just going to close this in the hatch. more

Hopkins 4-Pole to 7-Pole and 4-Pole Adapter Installation - 2019 Toyota Highlander- Video
Connor: Hey everybody, how's it going Connor today at etrailer.com. We're going to be taking a look at the Hopkins 4 and 7-Pole Trailer Connector Adapter here for our 2019 Toyota Highlander. Now, granted, this may vary a little bit, depending on what trailer connector mounting bracket we're using, but more often than not, it's going to be secured to the hitch receiver tube here, which is going to give us a nice accessible location here as well as going to be sturdy so we don't have to worry about it shifting around or plugging in our trailer connectors. So a seven-pole trailer connector is going to be a step up from the standard four-way trailer connector, and some reasons why you might need a seven-way trailer connector, number one, the most common is if you have electric brakes on your trailer, you are going to be required to run a seven-way trailer connector.And another common occurrence we see of the seven-way trailer connectors being used is if the trailer has a battery and you need to run a battery charge line circuit. So if you have a larger trailer with electric brakes or an onboard battery, chances are it's going to use a seven-way trailer connector, so we're going to need one of these for the vehicle.So this trailer connector here is sort of unique in that it offers pretty much plug and play installation because it's going to plug into an existing four-way trailer connector we have on the vehicle. Curt Trailer Connector Adapter Installation - 2020 Volvo XC60- Video
Connor: Hey guys, Connor here at etrailer.com. Today we're going to be taking a look at the CURT trailer connector adapter here for our 2020 Volvo XC60. So this is what the 7-way is going to look like installed on pretty much all vehicles. As you can see here, the great thing about this adapter here, it's going to take a 4-way flat trailer connector adapter, which is the most common and standard kind and it's going to adapt it into a 7-way trailer connector adapter. We're also still going to retain the 4-way on the side here.So if you're wondering why you would need a 7-way trailer connector and the reason for this is most larger to medium duty trailers or any trailer with brakes for that matter, is going to require the 7-way because the 7-way has more circuits than the 4-way, which allows us to accommodate additional features such as the electric brake output pin or reverse lights, should we need them. It's also going to have a battery charge line circuit if our trailer has an onboard battery. more

Now the socket housing itself is made from a zinc die cast metal, which means it's going to hold up really well to the elements and prevent any rust or corrosion. RoadMaster 6-Wire Trailer Connector Installation - 2018 Ram 1500- Video
Rob: Rob here etrailer.com and today you're going to be taking a look at the Roadmaster 6 Wire Electrical Connector for the vehicle end on our 2018 ram 1500. Our Roadmaster socket is going to allow us to finish our wiring so we can get all the signals from our motor home and transfer it into our Ram so we can safely get down the road.Our six ways in and provide us with six pins on the inside so that way we have all of our lighting functions like our taillights, each turn signal, and our brake lights. But it's also going to provide us with two more pins, that way we can add electric brakes or a 12 volt power source so we have a lot of options of what all we can hook up.Our cap is going to be spring loaded, so it's going to make sure that it closes whenever we're not using it and it's going to have a nice gasket there so it'll keep all that dirt, debris, and moisture out of the pins and hopefully prevent any kind of corrosion.Now on the door. You'll also notice there's this little tab. If I take my six way cord and I plug it in, you can see the tab's in a grabbed the edge of the cord there, that way it can't get pulled out unless you intentionally open the door and then pull the cord out.Our Roadmaster six way plug is gonna be a great addition to a flat Tow setup, that way we complete our tow bar wiring and we can get all those signals to the back or, if you just need to replace you're six way on an existing vehicle. Now keep in mind it's only going to be one component you need for a complete safe flat tow setup. more

Tekonsha Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2014 Audi Q7- Video
Today we're gonna be installing Tekonsha's Heavy Duty ModuLite Vehicle Wiring Harness for your 2014 Audi Q7. This wiring harness is gonna provide you with all the necessary lighting that you'll need on your trailer to be DOT compliant in all states. This includes your left turn signal, right turn signal, tail lamps and brake lamps. This way you can be ensured that when you're going on your vacations, trips, or just doing work around the area, that you're gonna be safe and everybody around you is gonna know what your intentions are 'cause they'll be able to see all of your turn signals.What's nice about this system is you not only get the wiring and everything you need to get it connected, but there's a module that's installed in your harness that monitors the signals that are going to it, and the module itself is what sends it out to our four pole connector. What's nice about this is if there is any faults on your trailer, the module will shut it down, and prevent any damage from occurring to the wiring on your vehicle. Curt 4-Way Flat to 5-Way Flat Trailer Connector Adapter Installation - 2010 Acura MDX- Video
Today on our 2010 Acura MDX we're gonna be installing Curt's four way flat to five way flat trailer wiring adaptor. This adapter's gonna allow you to take your four pole wiring on your MDX, and convert it to five pole wiring. Five pole wiring is a lot less common than your four pole wiring, so you typically don't find kits out there that just install straight five pole wiring. But if you're trailer does have a five pole, and you need this simply plugs in. And to get those reverse lights working you can take blue wire and route it your reverse lamp circuits on your vehicle. It comes with wiring, and quick splice to get that connected.We'll begin our installation at the back of the vehicle with the lift gate open. more

Trailer Wiring Harness Adapter Installation - 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited- Video
Today on our 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, we're going to be installing Tow Ready's Four Pole to Seven Pole Vehicle End Trailer Connector. To assist with the installation, we'll be using Draw-Tite's Wiring Kit for our electric brake controllers and Draw-Tite's mounting bracket for Seven way connectors. This seven way connector is going to be a quick and easy way to take your existing four pole connect and convert it to a seven pole. It also has all the additional circuits pre-wired off the back ready to make the connections for our brake controller. You will need to purchase additional wiring and a brake control in order to get that connected but as far as your lighting from your four pole, simply just plug and play.We'll begin our installation by mounting our seven pole bracket. Two self tapping screws come included with the bracket and we just use those to run it straight up into the bottom of our hitch here, right next to our factory four pole connector. more

Speaker 1: Today on this 2012 Chevrolet Malibu, we're going to review and install the Upgraded Circuit Protected ModuLite with 4 Pole Harness, part number 119179KIT.Let's go ahead and take a quick look at the ModuLite itself. This is going to be a great addition to your vehicle when you pull a trailer. First off, you notice it's got a protector here and it's labeled right here. That means that if there's any shorts or problems on the trailer, this module protects the vehicle from any shorts or damages. To give you an idea how it all works, our module is actually powered by your battery and from these input wires here, from the car, what happens is that the box will actually copy the signal and then send, using battery power, send it out to your trailer. So that way, again, if there's any problems with the trailer, it's limited to here and that's where it stops.Couple of neat things inside the box that protect the vehicle is it has a resettable breaker on the inside that's totally automatic, so you just let it sit for awhile and reset. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2010 Land Rover LR2 we're going to take a look and show you how to install the TEKONSHA Upgraded Circuit Protected ModuLite with 4 Pole Harness and Hardwire Kit. The part number is 119179KIT.Now this upgraded ModuLite kit allows us to add a 4 pole connector to the back of our LR2. Now we have to use the hardwire kit because there just aren't kits readily available on the market that allow you to just have the plug-and-play. Now the importance of having a ModuLite kit rather than just hard-wiring directly to your wires is that this helps to do a few things. This is going to isolate the trailer side from the vehicle side so if there are shorts or failures on your trailer those aren't going to be transferred into your vehicle's lighting system.Also, this is powered by a standalone 12V power source, we're going to run this up to the battery and also grounded to the vehicle's body. It's only using the lighting system of your vehicle for this switch signals. more

This is what the connector looks like once it's installed on the truck. Now this is a great replacement for your original connector like this one right here, which has getting sun damaged, and the plastic can get brittle over time. Or a lot of times I see these guys just smashed. One thing you really don't see, it's hard to tell, but inside these pins here, you'll end up getting with corrosion inside there. At that point, there's nothing that you can do but replace it. more

Curt 7-Way RV-Style Trailer Connector Installation - 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 3500- Video
Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Curt Seven Way RV-Style Trailer Connector for the vehicle end, and that's gonna be part number C58155.Here's what our seven way wiring connector is gonna look like once we have it installed. We chose to mount it in our truck bed for fifth wheel and Gooseneck wiring, although you can mount it at the back of your car for a replacement or an addition to have your trailer connected. It's gonna have a nice spring loaded door so we're not gonna have to worry about closing it, it'll close on its own as well as a nice seal to keep all the moisture and debris from getting inside of our connector.It's a seven way connector so it is gonna give us all of our lighting functions, brakes, taillights, turn signals, reverse lights, as well as a 12 volt power source and our trailer brakes if we have a controller installed. Nice features it does have that latch like most seven way connectors do so once you plug in your connector and this door closes on top it'll keep it from coming out.Our housing's gonna be made of a durable plastic so it's gonna withstand the elements and it's gonna look good whether it's inside your truck bed like we have here or at the back of your bumper. Overall I just really like the look of the connector. It has a lot of the same features as most of the ones on the market like the door and the gasket but it just has more of a finished look to me, a little bit more rounder edges, and not so much of that blocky square look.I do want to mention that the hardware is not included and any kind of brackets to get it mounted up are not included either, but you can pick up both of those on our website and we have a wide variety of brackets to get it mounted to the back of your bumper or right here in the bed of your truck.Now that we've gone over some of the features and seen what it looks like let's show you how to get it installed. more

Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit Installation - 2012 Jeep Liberty- Video
Speaker 1: Today on this 2012 Jeep Liberty, we'll be having a look at and showing you how to install the Roadmaster battery charge line kit for towed vehicles, part number RM-156-25. Here's what our battery charge line kit looks line installed. Now what this will allow us to do is maintain the battery charge in our Liberty, so when we arrive at our destination and we unhook from our motor home. We don't have to worry about the battery being dead and our vehicle will be able to start first time without having to worry about jumping it, calling roadside assistance, or anything like that. We'll be able to start it, go on our explorations of the town, the mountains, wherever we're at, it doesn't matter.
